On April 6th, we presented our freshly designed math games to the public. The first user-tests at VOR-ICT congress in Utrecht presented us with invaluable information. Thanks to Arie, Bram, Dennis and Fabian for making this all possible! For photo's hit the link
Swimming Games first User Test = Huge Succes!
The first user-test in the Tongelreep (Eindhoven) for swimming games, proofed to be a huge success. Students tried their games with schoolchildren aged 12+ while performing a Wizard of Ozz user test: faking their game concept. 32 students and 23 schoolchildren participated in this research. Check the photos for an impression of the tests!
Donkey Konga and Music
Tom Langhorst (teacher game sound at Fontys University of Applied Sciences) published a Dutch article on soundscape:
Kan de spelcomputer behulpzaam zijn bij de ontwikkeling van het muzikale gevoel? Met die vraag in het achterhoofd bekijkt Tom Langhorst hier kritisch het Nintendo-spel Donkey Konga, waarin de speler mee kan drummen met bekende popsongs.
Enjoy and grats to Tom!

Contact! Children & New Media sold 1000+
Contact! Children & New Media sold 1000 copies so far! That's why a small conference was held to discus the issues presented in the book. The mixed audience of teachers, pedagogues, and social workers discussed the implications of new media (games in particular) and children's self-image (i.e. identity), how games can have a positive influence of cognitive development, and how virtual environments like Habbo Hotel help children to play (i.e. explore) their personality and identity.
The day proofed to be successful, as participants suggested new directions for research and debated how current research could be implemented in schools, and other professional social work. Take a look at Kinderen en nieuwe media for an overview of the speakers, or order the book at: bol.com
